Abstract:
The expectations of metalworking fluid end users for cost effective, long life, EH&S friendly fluids is increasing. At the same time, the toolbox of available and acceptable ingredients is dwindling, particularly due to EH&S concerns and registration costs. This talk will discuss some formulating options, focusing on amines and registered biocides. An example will also be given of a microbially-resistant system free of registered biocides.
Biography:
Patrick Brutto is an applications R&D scientist at ANGUS Chemical Co., based in Buffalo Grove, IL. He is involved with the development and application of additives focused on the metalworking fluid and electronics markets. Pat holds an M.Sc. degree in chemistry from DePaul University, is an STLE-certified metalworking fluid specialist, and serves on STLE’s board of directors.
